Static Moves Drill
Ball Carryingbeginner10 min2+ players
Description
Before expecting evasive moves at full game speed, players need to build the muscle memory in a controlled setting. Static Moves gives ball carriers the reps to groove jukes, spins, and cuts without the chaos of live defense.
Instructions
- Set up 3-4 cones in a line, 3-4 yards apart.
- Runner starts at one end with flags on.
- Defender positions themselves near the cones.
- Runner moves through the cones, making one small evasive move at each cone (juke, spin, or cut).
- Defender tries to pull the flag at each cone.
- Rotate after each rep.
Points to Stress
- Make your move decisive — hesitation gets your flag pulled.
- One clean move per cone — do not chain 5 fakes.
- Set up your move early, not at the last second.
- Defender: be controlled — this is a learning drill, not a full-speed competition.
