Team Handoff Exchange
Ball Carryingbeginner10 min6+ players
Description
Fumbles on handoffs are often the result of poor technique rather than bad luck. This high-rep drill builds the habits that make every exchange clean — proper grip, belly target, and immediate tuck.
Instructions
- Divide players into two lines, facing each other 20 yards apart.
- First player in line A runs toward line B with the ball.
- First player in line B runs toward them.
- Players meet in the middle and exchange the handoff.
- The receiver continues to the opposite line and the drill continues.
Points to Stress
- Carry the ball with proper grip — don't swing it loose.
- Handoff: ball into the belly, not a sideways toss.
- Receiver: create a target and seal the ball before you run.
- Eyes forward after the exchange — keep running.
