Three on Two Running Drill

Football IQintermediate15 min5+ players

Description

This is one of the best all-purpose drills in flag football. It gets five players into a game situation at once, practicing snap, handoff, running, pursuit, and flag-pulling simultaneously.

Instructions

  1. Offense: Center, QB, RB. Defense: Lineman and Linebacker.
  2. Set two cone gates 5 yards downfield — left and right of center.
  3. QB calls signals and takes the snap from center.
  4. QB hands off to RB.
  5. RB reads the defense and tries to get through a gate.
  6. Defense pursues and attempts to pull the flag.

Points to Stress

  • QB: clean snap and clean handoff — no fumbles.
  • RB: pick your lane BEFORE the snap.
  • Defense: communicate — assign a lane to each defender, don't both go to the same one.
  • Rotate positions after every rep.
