Shotgun Rollout Throw

Passing & QB Mechanicsintermediate15 min2+ players

Description

QBs in flag football rarely throw from a perfect pocket. This drill builds the arm accuracy and body control to deliver a catchable ball while rolling out — essential for scramble situations and broken-play throws.

Instructions

  1. QB takes snap from center in shotgun.
  2. QB rolls out left or right.
  3. First rep: QB throws to a stationary target (cone or standing receiver).
  4. Second rep: QB throws to a receiver running a route.
  5. Focus on planting the back foot when possible before releasing.
  6. Alternate left and right roll-outs each rep.

Points to Stress

  • Plant your back foot when you can — even on the run.
  • Throw to a spot, not just in the general direction.
  • Eyes downfield at all times — do not look at your feet.
  • Build up: accuracy to a still target first, then a moving one.
