Shotgun Rollout Throw
Passing & QB Mechanicsintermediate15 min2+ players
Description
QBs in flag football rarely throw from a perfect pocket. This drill builds the arm accuracy and body control to deliver a catchable ball while rolling out — essential for scramble situations and broken-play throws.
Instructions
- QB takes snap from center in shotgun.
- QB rolls out left or right.
- First rep: QB throws to a stationary target (cone or standing receiver).
- Second rep: QB throws to a receiver running a route.
- Focus on planting the back foot when possible before releasing.
- Alternate left and right roll-outs each rep.
Points to Stress
- Plant your back foot when you can — even on the run.
- Throw to a spot, not just in the general direction.
- Eyes downfield at all times — do not look at your feet.
- Build up: accuracy to a still target first, then a moving one.
