Receivingintermediate15 min2+ players
Description
Catching high, back-shoulder throws near the sideline is one of the most game-specific skills a receiver can develop. This drill builds the ability to adjust to an arcing pass and secure it while in motion near the boundary.
Instructions
- WR lines up at the LOS.
- WR runs down the sideline for 8-10 yards.
- WR cuts sharply outward (toward the sideline).
- QB throws a high arcing ball to the cut spot.
- WR leans back, looks up, and catches the ball.
Points to Stress
- Lean into the catch — trust your balance.
- Keep your eyes on the ball through the entire arc.
- Secure the ball high before coming down.
- Don't break stride to look — find the ball while running.
