Sideline Catch Drill

Description

Sideline catches are some of the hardest in the game. This drill builds the spatial awareness and focus needed to make catches near the boundary — a skill that turns average receivers into playmakers.

Instructions

1. Mark the sideline with cones.
2. WR lines up at the LOS.
3. QB lines up in the pocket.
4. WR runs a route toward and along the sideline.
5. QB throws to lead the WR toward the sideline.
6. WR catches the ball while staying in bounds.
7. Add a defender for live coverage reps.

Points to Stress

• Know where your feet are at all times.
• Catch the ball first — worry about your feet second.
• Don't look at the sideline while the ball is in the air.
• Stay focused through the catch — not just until you touch it.
