1v1 Tunnel
In a 5x5 yard rectangle, the ball carrier tries to run to the other end while the defender tries to pull their flag — pure evasion in tight space.
1v1 Tunnel
DrillDescription
The 1v1 Tunnel strips football down to its most fundamental skill: can you avoid getting your flag pulled? With nowhere to run outside the box, ball carriers must rely on footwork, deception, and instinct rather than speed.
How to run it
- 1
Set up a 5x5 yard rectangle with cones at all four corners.
- 2
Offensive player lines up at one corner of the box.
- 3
Defensive player lines up at the other corner.
- 4
On hut, the offensive player gets a handoff from the coach and needs to run around the first cone to enter the tunnel.
- 5
The Defender runs around the other cone and tries to pull the flag before the carrier exits the box.
- 6
Carrier wins if they exit without losing their flag.
- 7
Rotate after each rep.
Points to stress
- Small space — make your moves count. You cannot outrun the defender here.
- Juke with your eyes and hips first, then your feet.
- Defender: stay square and patient — do not lunge.
- One decisive move beats a dozen hesitant ones.
