Split Backfield Handoff Drill
DrillDescription
The fake handoff is one of the most powerful plays in flag football. This drill builds the deceptive habits that make defenses commit to the wrong back — and ensures RBs can execute a clean exchange at full speed.
How to run it
- 1
Center, QB, and two RBs line up — RBs split wide left and right.
- 2
Center snaps.
- 3
QB moves toward both backs convincingly before committing.
- 4
QB fakes to one RB (look, reach, don't exchange).
- 5
QB hands off to the other RB.
- 6
Alternate who gets the real ball each rep.
Points to stress
- QB: sell the fake — look directly at the fake-back, reach slightly.
- RB getting the ball: basket target ready — inside arm up, outside arm down.
- Hit the hole at speed — don't wait to confirm the handoff.
