Description

Fumbles on handoffs are often the result of poor technique rather than bad luck. This high-rep drill builds the habits that make every exchange clean — proper grip, belly target, and immediate tuck.

How to run it

  1. 1

Divide players into two lines, facing each other 20 yards apart.

  2. 2

First player in line A runs toward line B with the ball.

  3. 3

First player in line B runs toward them.

  4. 4

Players meet in the middle and exchange the handoff.

  5. 5

The receiver continues to the opposite line and the drill continues.

Points to stress

  • Carry the ball with proper grip — don't swing it loose.
  • Handoff: ball into the belly, not a sideways toss.
  • Receiver: create a target and seal the ball before you run.
  • Eyes forward after the exchange — keep running.
