QB Roll-Out Drill
QB takes the snap, rolls out left or right to gain depth and throwing angle, then sets feet and delivers downfield.
QB Roll-Out Drill
DrillDescription
The roll-out is one of the most important QB tools in flag football. This drill builds the footwork and discipline to set feet before throwing — eliminating the common habit of throwing on the run across the body.
How to run it
- 1
QB takes snap from center.
- 2
QB rolls out to the right (or left) along a curved path.
- 3
QB gains depth and angles toward the sideline.
- 4
QB plants and sets feet before throwing.
- 5
QB throws to a receiver or cone target downfield.
- 6
Alternate roll-out direction each rep.
Points to stress
- Roll out with purpose — gain depth, don't drift sideways.
- Set your feet every single time — no throwing off the back foot.
- Don't throw across your body — reset your shoulders toward the target.
- Lead the receiver with the throw.
