Last Pair Standing

Drill
← step back after catch

Description

A high-rep catching drill with a competitive twist that keeps players focused. The elimination format adds just enough pressure to simulate game catches and reinforce the habit of catching with soft hands.

How to run it

  1. 1

Players pair up and stand 5 yards apart.

  2. 2

Partners throw and catch back and forth.

  3. 3

After a successful exchange, each player steps back one pace.

  4. 4

Any pair that drops the ball sits down.

  5. 5

    Continue until one pair remains.

Points to stress

  • Soft hands — reach for the ball, don't let it come to you.
  • Watch the ball all the way into your hands.
  • Tuck it before you think about running.
  • Catch first — always.
