Last Pair Standing
DrillDescription
A high-rep catching drill with a competitive twist that keeps players focused. The elimination format adds just enough pressure to simulate game catches and reinforce the habit of catching with soft hands.
How to run it
- 1
Players pair up and stand 5 yards apart.
- 2
Partners throw and catch back and forth.
- 3
After a successful exchange, each player steps back one pace.
- 4
Any pair that drops the ball sits down.
- 5
Continue until one pair remains.
Points to stress
- Soft hands — reach for the ball, don't let it come to you.
- Watch the ball all the way into your hands.
- Tuck it before you think about running.
- Catch first — always.
