Spider Web

Players stand in a circle and throw across the circle in a web pattern, forcing each player to track the ball from varying angles and distances.

Spider Web

Drill
Skip Adjacent

Description

Spider Web builds the reaction time and focus that receivers need when balls come from unexpected directions. By exposing players to different throw angles and speeds, this drill builds well-rounded catching instincts.

How to run it

  1. 1

Players form a circle 8-10 yards in diameter.

  2. 2

Player with the ball throws to any non-adjacent player.

  3. 3

That player catches it and immediately throws to another non-adjacent player.

  4. 4

    Keep the ball moving continuously.

  5. 5

Progress: use two balls at once.

Points to stress

  • Call your target's name before you throw.
  • Ready position — hands up at all times.
  • Track the ball from the moment it leaves the thrower's hand.
  • Catch with your hands, not your body — no hugging the ball.
